Proximity switch is a position switch that can be operated without mechanical contact with the moving parts of the machine. When the moving object approaches the switch to a certain position, the switch sends a signal to reach the switch of travel control. It is usually used in industrial automation control system to realize detection and control. It is a non-contact detection device.
There are many kinds of sensors, such as inductive and capacitive proximity switches for detecting the presence of metallic or non-metallic objects, ultrasonic proximity switches for detecting the presence of reflected sound, photoelectric proximity switches for detecting the presence of objects, and non-mechanical magnetic switches for detecting magnetic objects.
